Kev - we keep our house spotless! I think it is just because it's cold. I am getting conflicting advise about the orkin man! Some say have them come every 2 months, others say it will not help at all. I don't know what to do at this point. I have not seen any recluses YET, but if I do I am definately going to freak out.

Mindcore - as bad as this thread is, your story has effected me the most. I too would have sold the car; there is no question about it. All I can say is I hope it is on your side of Lake Ontario now!

For me the worst was almost dumping the motorcycle. I'm flying along and see this spider walking up the back side of the faring, I freak a bit and start to slow, it travels to the top of the fairing, gets caught in the air flow and flies back onto my chest on its web, now I'm panicked and can't stop the bike fast enough. I finally get stopped, almost forget to put the kickstand down when I jump off, I can't find the spider and start stripping my cloths off on the side of the road, cars are going buy slowing down and looking, I would have loved to know what they were thinking! It was only one and I finally got it and squished it but I remember riding home rather slow and spent the rest of the day taking things apart and washing everything on the Nighthawk. UGH!

I hate spiders!!!

I heard somewhere it was 7-8 yearly not in a lifetime. Oh well, whoever told me probably screwed up. Anyway...eight is too damn many for one lifetime!!!

My roommate just got back for Basic Training a bit ago and he said they had a recluse problem in the barracks. Every night one section would get attacked while they were sleeping. Many people were injured from bites. He had to help a buddy repack a hole in his side with gauze everyday. The hole was about the size of a plum where the poison disolved his flesh. Finally they bombed the place and killed the spiders off. He was pretty scared cause one night the attacks got close to him. Someone in the next bunk over got bit. I think would have went AWAL in that situation.

In the U.K. the average farmers field contains over 1,000,000 spiders.
Many are so small they are difficult to see.

I don't mind small spiders, it's the big ones that I crush. I'd stay away from the poisonous ones though, like the black widow and brown recluse. Don't wanna mess with those at all. I just cush those as soon as I see them.

Mindcore - that spider story sounds like a nightmare. Man, where the hell did they all come from. Do you know what kind of spiders they were???
