In most autos, shifting to 2 has a limited gear speed of about 45mph.

I've actually sort of done that.... not 10 miles, more like 500 feet after merging though. Also, that was on a old Dodge pickup with 3 speed auto. Why's the damn thing at almost 3,000 rpm? Doh.
