The shooter was a VA Tech ('97) and Uniformed Services University of the Health Science (which is a ball-buster of a medical school) graduate ('01). He specialized in psychiatry, and was a mental health counselor... the irony of it all.

His previous assignment was at Walter Reed, where he apparently received a less than stellar Officer Evaluation Report (OER). He was also due to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan soon.

So, in short we had an asshole who decided to kill a bunch of strangers for no real reason. The two others taken into custody have been released, although a third man is said to be in custody.
