Default Funeral attire question

My wife and myself had taken care of Bill for the past several years (my wife as far back as 15+ years ago)... .anyway, he passed away on Wed, and the funeral was today.

I (like most normal people) wore a suit and tie. My wife went a little more casual with a not so great dress.....here is the kicker... Julie's mom (Jane) (who also knew bill for 20+ years ) went with us..... SHE WORE POLESTER YUCKY BLUE PANTS, SNEAKERS AND A SATIN LIKE JACKET WITH STAINS ALL OVER IT.

It was a 2 hour drive and I was soooooooo ****ing pissed the entire way there and back! Of course Bill's 3 cousins (and spouses) were there dressed in very nice dresses and suits... then there was Jane in her ****ing sneakers and stained jacket. Jane is not poor by any means (guessing she has at least $250,000 in the bank, plus $48k a year retirement).

Isn't it normal to show proper respect and wear decent clothes. I was not really inconvienced by wearing a suit... i changed after the funeral!

going to a funeral has changed a bit....but that is a bit to much of a change! she should have been a little more respectable and worn something nicer...even if she didn't have anything in her closet...she should have asked to borrow something!

In any case I am sorry for your lost and sorry that you friend could not dress appropriately
