do you think it's better to give ur kid a generic name so they fit in and no one makes fun of them or something unique, to be interesting and different?
If/when I have kids I'm thinking they can decide if they want to be unique, interesting, or different. Naming your kid Apple (Gwyneth Paltrow) or Moxie Crime Fighter (Penn from Penn and teller) kind of dictates the way the world treats you for the rest of your life. I'd prefer to make that decision for myself, and let my unborn children make the same choice.

People with names like Shaydonilla or Tanikqua are put at a disadvantage from the get go. Studies show, for example, that people with names along those lines are less likely to get a call back on a resume submittal.

That is exactly what I though of when I started reading this.
Soda

I picked names hopefully the majority would be able to say in the US for my Indian race children. They still **** it up as least based on spelling, but at least they can say it.

I have friends who picked names that are the same as white people names for their kids. I don't want to do that. Personally I think that's selling out too much. Sure non whitey names get butchered, but especially in Populated California it's so nice to have such a great mix of people. I love the unusual cultural names. They are so cool.
