I almost forgot. In college there was a professor named Dr. Fat Ho. Never took his class, though.

Went to high school with Harry Savage. No lie. Kid was a retard.

There is a guy in the Minneapolis phone book with the name Stewart Pid.

A local radio station threw a big happy hour for the guy and handed out "I'm with Stew Pid" t-shirts. The guy said his dad named him that as a joke.

Oh yeah, back in college I did some volunteer tutoring and tutored a big fat chick named "Takeela" Every time you saw her waddle into the room you could not keep the saxaphone music out of your head. Ne ne ne ne ne ne na TAKEELA!

There was an episode of the Man Show where they invited guests on with ridiculous names. Charles Dick and daughter Anita Dick, Jack Hoff, Dick Hertz, Mike Hunt, Dick Nibbler, and my personal favorite, Fuk Yu
I wonder what happened to Howie Feldersnatch?

There was a Dr. Cockburn at a software testing conference I went to last year. I didn't take his class. Actually...I heard it was a very good class, just not in my area. And I guess it's pronounce 'co-burn'.

My girlfriend is Chinese, so I had learn how to properly pronounce her family's names. Most everyone had taken an 'American' name, but within the family they still call each other by their regular name.

I think it's good to have 'different' names out there. It opened me up to the Chinese culture more, something that I may not have been able to do as easy if I had not met her. But at the same time, there are so many people out there that are completely naive to how people name their children. I had never heard of the name Thein until we had met, but I guess it is a rather popular name.

However, I will agree there is a difference between name your children after your culture (Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc) and just picking an odd name. I'm not a fan of the weird spelling either. You can't just take a normal name, spell it totally wrong and then call it unique.

How 'bout double names, such as Michael Michael or Nguyen Nguyen (same first and last names)? I know both of those people.
