I come across these sites such as www.freeipod.com. They say refer to 5 friends and get a free video ipod in the mail? Is this legit? Anyone ever tried it?

No they're not legit they're a pyramid scam and no they're not allowed on this site but I'm pretty sure this thread is ok since you're just enquiring about it.

disregarding the lack of privacy, or current saturation of this legalized pyramid scheme, I personally know several people that received free IPODs, Xboxs, LCD monitors, etc from such schemes. So it is legit, but you pay a price and I wouldn't do it.
