gift ideas
I think giving her a gift if you have no good reason for a breakup (moving on is a not a good reason) is nothing more than a selfish way to rid yourself of guilt.
If YOU want to end it because you are tired and want to move on, be a man, and don't try to buy your way out of the tears and shitstorm.

thanks for the suggestions. i am not running from guilt, looking to twist the knife, or trying to buy away tears. the idea was more of a thank you...such as...i enjoyed the time we spent together. ill probably just burn a cd and write a letter while in the process saving some dough.
edit: we have talked about this...so its not like im saying on the day before i leave..ok, well see ya later..going away now
again, thanks

If you're breaking it off, why would you give her a gift. That's like twisting the knife. Unless you're planning on coming back for the random booty call....
This sounds like a split that's not a screw you I'm gone type of thing. I'm thinking this is a girl you like and respect a great deal but just don't see a future with as anything more than a friend. While she's still likely to be hurt why turn her into an enemy if you can still be friends after you both move on?
Also sounds like you'd like a few months of freedom to do who and what you please.

Nice 8D....nothing says "you're time is up" quite like giving your ex a watch. LOL! Its like getting the door prize for 3rd place on Wheel of Fortune.
Plus, it was more tasteful than giving her one of those "NOW SERVING ___" signs.
do you have any pictures. girls love scrap books, make her something that you put time into...like you put time into the relationship. buying something is an easy out IMO. If you wanna show her you appreciated the time in the relationship put time into the gift. good luck, i know were you are coming from.
