Sorry to hear that, Rich. Sounds like you really got screwed. Good luck finding a new job. I hope all is well with your family.

exactly 3 years after i started at my current company, the division i work for was dissolved today completely - it's a shocker because top management didn't even accept a spin-off/JV/sale proposal for this $200M operation (this year would be the first year the division is in the red and not by much), and this right before the start of the holidays......wow.
I'm sorry to hear this. The same thing happened to me 6 months ago. I'm assuming they gave you severance, which I hope will last until you find something else. Depending on what field you're in, I've worked with several recruiters lately I would be glad to recommend to you should you be interested. It's an extremely emotional process, one which has tested my patience more than a few times. Don't be afraid to re-evaluate what you want to do, and certainly, do not isolate yourself from your friends and your family like i'd done the first month. Remember, it's not your fault, and there are many people going through the same, shi**y process of finding another job. Let me know if I can be of help!

Sorry to hear that. I've been there too. Best thing to do is get busy right away on the new search, or complacency can set in. When one window closes, another opens. Best wishes.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I understand and feel your pain. I have experianced this twice in only 8 years. The first time, I got to stuff my own envelope telling me that I would not have a job as of Oct 31, that was on Sept 11, 2001. What shitty timing that was. The second time I took friday off to spend with my family for my birthday.... bright and early (9:30 is bright and early for HR) I was told that we were going to downsize and I would be let go. - that was a last in first out.

As stated earlier, keep in touch with people and keep your chin up, you did not do anything wrong.

Wow Rich, that's rough. You know my wife and the job she had. They downsized her out 355 days ago. It sucked.

Maybe now you can take that job in Asia you've been hoping for?

Good luck my friend!
