Don't pay 1k to fix a headgasket, that's way too much. Just swap another KA in there. Or put a SR20 and a manual swap.

In fact, the car was cheap. I bought it to just drive it around. Especially I go to NYC a lot. I can't drive my S there all the time. The road sux big time in NYC.

anyway, I am not looking to spend anymore money on the car. I bought it as a beater. The money I lost over this does not matter much anymore.

does mr A know of the full story? about you getting the 2nd opinion and you now know that he knew it had an overheating problem?

maybe he'll realize that he got caught up and take the car back or at least apologize.

worse case you can get on myspace and talk shit about him to all his bff and make him cry.

Mr A does not know I got a second opinion from my other friend.

I just found out all of these yesterday. I am not sure if I should bring these up on the table. The only reason I could think of is that Mr A is my best friends Brother-in-law. It will get very complicated will it?

The first mistake you did was buy a 240sx as a beater lol. I'm guessing for the price you got it, you should be able to sell it without much of a loss. Esp on the 240sx boards, there are a ton of people looking to pick one up so they can start a project.

lol I know what you mean about NYC roads though.

That's not a friend, that's just somebody you know. A real friend doesn't do that kind of thing.

What would you guys do if you were me?
Get the radiator flow tested. I have a '91 that did the same thing. Preventive wise I did the timing chain upgrade and while I was in there replaced the water pump and thermostat and some other odds and ends. Car would start running hot after running for 10-15 minutes on an average temp day. pulled the radiator and sent it to the radiator shop we use and it was stopped up. I just ended getting a new, all metal one pretty reasonably (was over a year ago..forget how much now). But I'd start there. Pretty simple to yank out.

if Mr.A rebuilt the engine, any reputable mechanic would check the head for cracks and warpage, more than likely the head is warped. aluminum doesn't take heat all that well
i agree with the other guy that said to just get a new ka24de ,or even an sr20det
or you can screw someone else over with it

sorry, someones gotta say it-with friends like that, who needs enemies.
But I would confront mr. A about it and tell him that you knew he had the problem the whole time, or you could screw him over. Find a cheap p.o.s car and tell him its fine, even though it has a problem and sell it to him for the money you lost plus what you paid for it. Than you make your money back and you can tell him not to f with you! ha
I would do one of the above, prob. the 2nd.

Never expect things like this would ever happen. Only seen this on TV.

It doesn't feel right to screw someone else over. If I am going to sell it. I will tell the potential buyer the problem. I just hope someone that's looking to do an engine swap to buy this car. So that the overheat problem is out of the picture.
