Got smoked by a Supra
I was just joking around, Jay. No harm done.
Most of my female companions don't give a flying fucc about cars. They could, really could, care less about my road escapades. They're too used to nice rides. Spoiled brats. Most of them like SUVs and BMWs.
They had just better not call my S2000 a cute Miata. That's one thing the BMW coupe has over the S2000. No identity crisis.
But who cares. 9K. Enough said.

The RX-7 will definately have an advantage over the S in straight-line acceleration, and will kill the S in a rolled start. The RX-7 is as bad as the S getting off the line due to the lagged sequential turbos and adding to the problem is the small displacement rotary engine. So basically the RX-7 will craws off the line, and i think the S will have a 1-2 cars from start. In the twisties, the 7 is not bad at all, it might even take the S.
All these for a 6-8 years old car is not bad at all.

I agree that the turbo version of the last model run of the supra (1993+) would be too much for the S2000. Remember, they are a different animal and a higher end car. A friend of mind used to own a non-turbo 94. I believe it had 220 or 225 hp. which isn't a threat to the s2000. For that, the price of it was around $37k. I think tubros ran in the mid 40s.
Plus a car being turbo and several years on the market, it isnt difficult to find upgrades.
The Rx7, 300Z, and Supra, were great Japanese muscle cars. I'm sorry they pulled from the US market.

Yeah, but it looks like the Z is coming back, and the RX-8 too. Its Toyota's turn to revitalize the Supra. The RX-8 has those stupid coupe doors though, it looks dumb. Just a make a two door coupe will ya, and not those stupid extra doors for the rear.
Earlier sample 93-96 Supra TT's sold typically for around $50k+ brand new. In 97', Toyco released a "25th anniversary edition" making most of the options standard and let it go out the door for $40K and change. It was (and still is) a veritable bargain for a fantastic sports car! Pristine used samples still go for that much today (just to let you know the market demand for these). As much as I like the Stook, once the arrival of the next generation Supra / NSX / GTR comes here, I may have to wish her farewell

Nice story Huyto!!
I like stories like this!!
Yes japanese cars Rock!! I love them, they got style, personnality, power, reliability, and so on.... very clever investments in fact.
S2K_Spain, we are not talking about permanently racing with our S2K, these situations are occasionnal and not common, meeting a superb car on a free road is just an inviation, a chance to have some fun for a few... well...seconds....

I know I am cheating here. Regarding "Have you seen S2000 tail lights on other CARS?", Huyto. I am with you.
"The word" is occasionally used in a callous manner. Sometimes it's difficult for an outsider to figure out what is sensitive to a group of people. I think you are right to point out that a little sensitivity is needed here. A few African Americans using the "N" word does not make it OK for me. A Jewish comedian doing a stand up routine about his mother does not make it OK for me to start a joke on the topic. The fact that an Asian person started a webpage with "the word" only goes to show the lack of sensitivity of that individual.
However, I also get the feeling that you realize, as well as I do, that 99% of the folks here are decent folks with good intentions. I have been reading this board for a couple of weeks. It's reason enough for me to get the car just so I can continue to hang out here.
I could have post this message in private, but I thought it is important that others get to hear my opinion. I am Asian. Born in Taiwan. For those who care, I am sensitive to how others use "the word". Now back to stook.
