Gotta love "the system" in America - SSI FTW!
We have an employee (i thought he was a decent guy but..) who drinks a lot. He got drunk, wrecked his bicycle (he has had 2-3-4 prior DUI's so he rides a bike now) into a car about 6 months ago. He got hurt but not life threatening.
Now the ****er supposedly can't work (how about some light duty work???) and is applying for SSI. He is roughly 45 years old.
The guy caused his own problems and will now sit around collecting free $ and working side jobs for cash..... doh.... (we have other employees who have done the same, as well as many of my rental neighbors, etc....).... this seems to be the thing to do these days....

If the money is there, take it.

We created the issue...
By installing back up alarms on delivery trucks. How many dumb people has this creation saved?

Did he get a DUI for riding his bike too? Because I think you can.
wonder what happens in other countries if you create all of your own problems.... do they give you a check each month?
They typically have stiffer penalties for DUI, and then after a certain number of repeat offenses, they throw you in the mental institution (which means you don't serve a sentence, they have to decide to discharge you).
