Default Graphic Artists...HELP!

I sponsored a logo contest which ended yesterday. It was a great turnout with 64 entries, but that was the easy part, now I must choose one. I've tossed the entries that won't work and there are 18 potential designs to choose from.

The mark must be able to "do" print and web, color and B&W.

There are a few that are strong in terms of branding potential and size that I like. I would like a second opinion though.

Please follow this link
http://sportsmanscovelodge.com/coppermine/...ils.php?album=1

click the first image, then just scroll through with the arrow buttons. Also, please rank the logos using the star icons at the bottom (I found that you can't change your vote!).

Oh, you don't HAVE to be a Graphic Artist to play! All feedback is welcome!

Cheers -

numbers 1 and 17 are my favorites. Simple, elegant, understated.

Hey Guys,

I screwed up by not naming the entries. I left the server assigned file names....DOH!

Anyway, the photo gallery re-orders the photos based on views, votes, etc. So, photo number 1 might not be the same number 1 next time.

I just renamed the photos (entry 1 - entry 17), if you have the time could you take another peek, and let me know which numbers you like now that they files have a name?

Or just vote by clicking the star icons below the photo.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!

Did you have any specifications as to how the logos were made? Ie Vector or bitmap?

If not, you might want to think about that when deciding on the logo -- unless the designer will redo it, depending on what you're going to be using it for.

Yep, the specs were STRONG preference for vector artwork, with 600dpi + bitmap being acceptable. All the preview images are submitted as a low res. bitmap, the winner supplies original vector/hi res. version.

Your right though, format is a very important consideration.

I pick #2 for several reasons. First, it is simple and unique. People will be able to identify and remember the company with the anchor logo. They may not remember your name, but they will remember what you look like. Four abstract dots won't necessarily be a strong point of reference. Second, the logo can easily change colors while still retaining your identity. Think Nike swoosh here. When you get logo shirts, hats and promotional items done, it will be an inexpensive design that can be ebroidered at a fairly low cost. Again, you will have great flexibility with the design because of the way it will retain your identity in any color. Finally, I think it nods to the nautical without being cliche. Some of the other designs aren't terribly unique. It doesn't take a great deal of creative energy to come up with a wave or sailboat design.
