I'll nominate George Carlin
Dane Cook. His humour has me rofling a lot. I know a lot of people hate him, but I think you need a certain sense of humour to get him. His earliest shit is really good (public bathrooms skit).

Okay...How about Bill Cosby. Take all the swear words out of any comedian's routine and see if they can compare.

That's a good call. There's a scene in Comedian where Seinfeld, Colin Quinn and one other comedian are discussing having seen Cosby's set, and how Cosby had 2 hours of completely solid material that could play to the entire house.

I think a lot of people today don't get the genius of some stand up comedians.

Those people that love Dane Cook....... there is no genius there......just general observational humor. He makes me laugh like one of my friends makes me laugh.

Dave chappelle is hit or miss for me. His "niggars" skit was ****** hilarious, but otherwise most of his stuff is just meh. His voice is reallllly annoying.

Er...ah...I wasn't aware this discussion was restricted to stand up. If so there's going to be a bunch of funny of both sexes left out.

Jack Benny, Newhart, Carol Burnett, Johnny Carson and a host of others made their living reacting to what others did or said. I'd argue that's a greater talent than writing and delivering jokes onstage.
