Default GT3 on PS2: Setting up your gear ratios

Do you guys mess with those settings? I did it before on GT2, but it was a very trial and error process. I had a spreadsheet with different settings and the 400 & 1000 meter times associated with each change. It was time consuming. How do you guys figure out your settings?

I usually do not mess up each gear ratio but if I know that I am going to drive a car for a while I buy the full racing transmission and play with the final ratio. Actually I won many races by playing with this even the car did not have the potential performance. It is basically try-error for me but I am pretty sure there are people who do this by calculations and etc.

I wait till someone who has no life to test it all out and post it on the board.
Then I use those settings

I usually set it up on a per race basis. I use the broad adjuster (the one that shifts all ratios) and tweak it so that I'm just about at redline in top gear at the end of the longest straight for the course. This works well but is still a trial and error process to an extent.

On TXRZ I was setting them so that when I shift the rpm drops between 1000 to 1500 rpms. I have yet to try that on GT3.

I do like this... if I am gonna race on a track with a lot of turns and stuff, then I make bring the ratio down, if Im going to be racing on a track with a lot of straitaways, ima make bring it up... thats all I do

Same here. I adjust for redline on the longest straight. We probably could "fix" some odd 1-2 and 6 gearing (often set for 0-60 and fuel efficiency) but I don't bother.
