How do you get on reverse gear?

So how many post do you have to have to move up to another gear?

Considering 2 hours of playing time I think it's pretty good 
Bring over a TV and your ps2 and let's race! I think that's the equipment we need to have 2 players without the split screen crap. Do you know?
