GT3 worth buying a PS2???
I don't own a PS2, but I hear GT3 is realllly cool.. is it really worth me not only buying the game, but the PS2 Also? I saw the PS2 when it first came out, and the games looked shitty... no better than my PS1... Should I?

I just got it on Saturday (just for GT3) and I must say that it's pretty damn amazing. You can run the world's greatest race tracks, you can build out cars to have different spring rates per corner, gear ratios, just about anything you can do to a car you can do in this game. The graphics are amazing and when I put the CD the first time, I swore that the opening sequence was live action video...then I saw things here and there that told me that it was computer generated video...
Totally awesome and this is coming from someone who isn't really a gamer and I have never had a game console before. I think it's freaking killer!

Gotta go race!

I waited untill GT3 was released to buy the PS2...Only reason, and yes it is worth it.
And for Greg, parts of the intro is real video, meshed with CGI. Sorry to spoil it for you. but it is pretty cool huh?

My biggest gripe with the PS2 is Sony's dumb decision to not support any type of HD output. Would 480p have been too much to ask, especially considering that the upcoming competition will support 1080i.... The games can look as 'real' as a movie, but a lo-res image looks crap-tacular by the time it gets to my 10' screen... Unfortunately, I'll have to stick with PC gaming until a decent HD console comes out.
Actually, I'll suggest you play GT3 at a friend's place or somewhere else ... I mean not just playing for a few minutes but some intense hours and real attention. Then you will realize, yes the graphics are quite fantastic but the game isn't that great.
The A.I. is quite artificial and the game isn't what I call realistic. Besides, once you get bored of playing GT1 and GT2, the difference with GT3 is just the graphics and full stop. Endurance races are boring. I wouldn't buy PS2 just for GT3, there are some other good games out there for the PS2 as well. Just that, currently it's GT3.
