I doubt anyone in here has a full auto.. I suspect all the AR15s are semi-auto.. mine is

In the last couple of months I've had the pleasure of shooting two fully auto submachine guns. The Thompson M1A1, and the M3A3 Grease Gun. Also the M16 machine gun. The Tommy and the Grease Gun climb quickly and short burst work best. The Grease Gun is something of a bitch to load if you don't use the built in "speed Loader." The M16 is much easier to control and more fun to shoot. However, the subs are very interesting older guns and worth shooting anytime you have the chance.
Tons of threads here about guns, just search.
I and my sons ages 11 & 9 have a huge collection. I buy in triplicate so my boys each have what I have. Even here in the Dumb O'Cratic Republik Of Kalifornia it is possible to acquire really cool sh_t if you know where to look.
Many items I would never admit to having access to on a public forum.
Screw you Brady group, long live the 2nd Amend.

OP, if you're starting out with a pistol, and can only afford one pistol right now, I recommend that you get a Glock 19. Just my opinion, but I think it's a great starter handgun as well as a great experienced shooter's handgun.
I've gone full circle - have owned and shot the hell out of custom 1911's, HK's, Browning Hi-Powers, etc. and etc. I'm now back with Glock - they're not the sexiest thing on the market, but they work.

For something with Glock-like design advantages but more sex appeal at similar price, I like the Walther P99. My early-model has the hump on the bottom of the trigger guard. Don't like it. One of these days I'm going to get that modified to the newer flat guard.
Dad, why do you like the Glock 19 over the 17 for a first pistol? BTW, to OP, definitely try before you buy. The Glocks, for example, point a little different than most pistols (grip angle).

^I actually own both. I recommended the 19 over the 17 for concealment. If that's not a factor, then the 17 obviously gets the nod.
I know quite a few guys that chopped off a portion of the 17's grip frame - modded to match the 19's dimensions. Keeps the full-size slide, but with the concealment of the 19.

I "qual'd" on the M3A1 way back in the old days of the Cold War (we still had two of those in every cavalry troop then). Lots of fun, with the exception of loading those magazines!
Don't forget about sticking your finger into the bolt carrier to cock it, either
[QUOTE=Dunk'sDad,Mar 7 2010, 12:38 PM]Man, does that bring back memories!
