bingo

besides, as soon as someone starts fucking with my personal safety, the safety of my passenger, and the integrity of my personal property... the very first thing to go is my compassion for said person.

I probably would've done the same thing and got behind him to keep him from being run over... but as far as LYING for him to the cops-- a complete stranger who took it upon himself to come out of nowhere and fuck with you-- well, fuck him.

I'd tell the cops everything. I'd testify against him in court if necessary and if asked, give signed statements to his insurance company so they could find grounds to not cover him. why? so this stupid mo-fo would end up so friggin broke-- from his own stupid actions, mind you-- that he couldn't afford to go out and buy another high performance vehicle and continue to threaten the peace and safely of innocent drivers on the roads who are just minding their own business.

yeah, fuck him. dumbshit deserves to peddle along in a rusty VW Beetle for a few years.

Your very ignorant attitude only lowers you to the same level as the individuals making poor errors in judgement. I'm not saying OP should have escorted him to the hospital but he did do the right thing.

How about you actually think of this guy, half dead, potentially paralyzed for life, laying on the cement not knowing who he is. I hardly feel, even if he could remember anything, getting tickets/losing insurance would the most of his worries. It's the consequences he will not escape, the surgeries, skin graphs, rehab, or the rest of his life in a wheel chair that will haunt him for the rest of his life.

OP, thank you for doing the right thing It's good to see someone was looking out for him even when he himself was not.

remedyz, you're not feeling Tritium's argument about what the guy did first? I'm not as hardcore as he is, given that the story didn't reek of threatening the OP's life. But would you feel that bad about the guy if he was a burglar and you shot him in your home? Maybe an extreme comparison but that's the angle Tritium is seeing.

Well......iffen you'd seen him, I think you would agree he's probably learned his lesson. There's a real possibility the guys got a busted back. That could ostensibly mean paralysis, in which case he won't be squiddin' it up on anyones highways, anywhere, anymore. As I'd previously pointed out, when I was his age, I was a big ole' squid myself. At the moment, I was feeling magnanimous and felt the guy could use a pass.

Even though I was one of those that felt you should've busted his ass, I can see where you're coming from. I guess you've just got to be there and assess the situation.

In the end it goes without saying, we've all done something stupid in our lives and thanked god we didn't get busted.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he wreck because his tire picked up a deflector... not because he was riding like a total idiot? I personally woulda done the same thing as the OP, I have compassion for people and think the guy got screwed up enough. I'm not seeing where he was being a complete and total idiot if he wrecked because of the reflector. We've all done something stupid in a car at least once, I'm sure you would want someone to give you a break too if you had already had something horrific happen to you.
