At the track this past weekend there was one individual that drove a hand only operated car. The driver is in a wheel chair and I think the only real accommodation that was made for him was he was allowed to signal the side to pass on with his turn-signals since obviously sticking a hand out the window would impact his safe driving.

So you cannot assume too much.

What would be really funny is watching the driver's face as the car was put on a flatbed and towed away. The police have done that here in SC to a few of these "Ill just pay the fine and get VIP parking until Im caught" people.

I have a friend who is wheel chair bound and it's real frustrating to not be able to find a parking spot when there is an "unmarked" vehicle in a handicapped space.

If there is no tag or mirror hanger, I have just two words.

TOW IT!

I hope that individual is parked there for a valid reason.

If not, well... I don't want to go there.

Let's give him/her the benefit of the doubt. If I were there, I probably would have called the cops. Let them deal with it. I bet they'd have a few choice things to say if this person wasn't in fact handicapped.

Another data point:
I know two older guys who got handicap tags because of sports injuries (broken leg, torn knee ligament). Both of them are still using their tags, years after the injuries. I also knew a lady in California who talked her doctor into giving her one while she was pregnant. The kid is 3 years old, and she still is using the tag.

What they need to do is put an expiration data on the darn things.

Just for the record, I did look for tags, rear view mirror hangers, etc...that would indicate that he/she/it was handicapped, I found none.

FYI
