Default Hard drive digital camcorder?

anybody have experience in digital camcorder that records on hard drive?

which one to get?

worth the money to get it in HD? (though the "downside" to me is that i have to get extra equipment to backup the vid from the camcorder to another source: bigger computer harddrive to handle the download, a HD DVD burner, HD DVD-R disc, a HD DVD player to view the HD DVD ... etc)

I would get THIS instead.

Pretty kick ass setup and the 4gb cards will hold upto an hour of HD video @ 5.1 sound. Each 4gb card is only $50. So for $800 you get the cam and still buy 4 hours worth of memory keeping your total tab under $1k.

HD is the way to go IMO. If you can't afford it now, try waiting till the prices come down even further. No doubt the price will be in the 5-600 range by Feb.

Exactly. I wish I knew abt this product 6months ago, would've held off on buying my Canon.

Read the reviews and they're pretty glowing. Only downsides seem to be there is no viewfinder (must use LCD panel) and the format doesn't play nice with alot of the video editing software out there, i.e. Avid.
