Default Have bread...no teeth!

Hi!
My name is Alessandro, I'm italian, and I already moved here in California.
I work for a visual effects company that has offices in Santa Monica, Montreal and Milan.
I had my visa about 1 month ago, and I've had my SSN 3 weeks ago.
I'm 31, I worked for the company that owns my actual company for about 7 years. I'm general manager, here.
Well, you can imagine:
new job, more money, new place, new house, new people, new car....
NEW CAR??????
NONONONO, my dear!
Well: about 3 weeks ago I went to a car dealer, to lease (guess what?) a new S2000!
I went in, the dealer was very kind, I didn't wanted to have the description, I already drove it a lot in Italy, the one they had was the one I wanted.
Then we sat and the bad thigs begun.
My best choice is to lease the car: I'm not planning to stay here for all my life. Maybe, if I'll marry Michelle Pfeiffer, but I see it's very hard...
But no lease: only buying. Why? Because I don't have a credit history!
Ok, I said: let's buy it.
No. I can't.
Actually I have a letter from my italian bank that states that I'm a good customer, I always pay in time etc.etc...
Nothing.
I called my bank in Italy, asking: "what can I do?"
They said to go to their partner bank in the U.S., Bank of America, to open an account, and my bank would have written a "Stand By Letter Of Credit" that in fact states that in case of missed payments of a financing, MY BANK would have paid. So, I can have an entire italian bank saying that they will pay for me.

IT IS NOT ENOUGH!!!!! And they are partners!!!!!

Any clue on how I can do something?

Ciao
Alessandro

Well, for starters, you could start a bank account and put a decent amount of money in it. This will show that you a) have money, b) will probably stick around for a while. Secondly, apply for at least one credit card to help build your credit history (and rating). Thirdly, see if they will take a co-signer - if so, get a friend or relative to co-sign for you. Since you say you have no problem paying, the co-signer shouldn't have any reservations about signing with/for you.

My $0.02.
