Wow! Thanks for all the replies! I will answer all of you individually later, but I need to go check on my s2k, which I am getting back tomorrow!
The general question about precalc / AP Calc.
I am actually on the ADVANCED course in math for our high school. The TYPICAL student who takes 8 semesters of math would look like this.
Fresh: Algebra I
Soph: Geometry I
Jun: Algebra II
Sen: Trig
I took the Algebra I in 8th grade as part of an advanced math class. The year I took Alg I in 8th grade was the first year they offered such a program, so I am lucky I am even in precalc now!
You can't have everything from a high school you want.
...didn't think about georgia tech, but I have VERY little extracirricular activities, because I worked and still do work outside of school ~20 hours/week.

I went to Purdue and Vanderbilt.
Your smartest choice (imho) would be to choose Purdue. It is well ranked and has some solid faculty driving the programs. The in-state tuition is excellent and you would be close enough to home to benefit from some of the resources while still being far enough away to make it feel like a big change.

Purdue, FTW! Go Boilers!
And yes, the school does matter, if only for the first several years of getting a job. I can't count the number of people (surprisingly even now) who were quite happy to read Purdue on my resume. I was chosen above others during initial interviews simply because their school didn't have as prestigious a name as Purdue. After 10+ years, it will hardly matter if you got your degree from Podunk College in the Bayou, as long as your work experience looks good.
Do I think it's crap? Yes... plenty of Podunk schoolers who are smarter than me, but sometimes a name does matter.
