Congrats on your "state-of-the-art" Lexicon. Yes there is a breakin period on amps. The sound actually improves with use. If you have new speakers, they also get better with use.

If you are used to the older "PROLOGIC", the 5.1 dolby digital will blow you away. Then, the DTS is often better and get ready for the newer 6 channel sound which adds a subwoofer in the rear.

One of the best sound fields for DTS sound has to be Saving Private Ryan. When they hit the beach, the sound envelopes you as different sound comes from each speaker. Also good are River Wild, Prince of Egypt, U571, Daylight, Jurasic Park. Try to get a DTS demo disk...there are DTS and 5.1 CDs available that are also awesome. The Eagles "Seven Bridges Road" clip from their live album is often used as a DTS demo as each musician has a separate speaker.

Thanks for the info on the amps. This is my first set of separates, and didn't know much about the break in period. (LOts of recievers).
I have not seen any of the DD 5.1 CDs, have you seen such? I have a number od the DTS CDs, but my favorite music is thing is the Two Aaginst Nature DVD. Steely Dan live is always fun and the sound is very good (DTS).

Many of the newer DVD open automatically to DD 5.1, however not all. I always check the "Language" section on the MENU where most DVDs have the sound selection stored.

I just watched "Perfect Storm" in 5.1 and "Gladiator" in DTS. Both are good, but I enjoyed "Gladiator" the most. The sound and picture quality are outstanding.

I had to watch Gladiator in the lowley DD 5.1 but man was it good. One of the better films to come out for a while.

 

I heard Gladiator was going to be appearing at Imax theatres beginning in New York. That would be incredible to see. Definitely one of the all time great movies as was Spartacus!

 

Agreed on Gladiator, the sound was amazing and the picture was excellent.

Watched Chicken Run and X-Men as well this past weekend. Chicken Run was a lot of fun. X-Men was about the same as in the movies.
