Default help with lost phone and verizon wireless

i signed up with a 2 year contract with verizon and i have about a year left on the contract and well i lost my phone. Does anyone know how this works to get another phone? Do i pay the same price as on thier site with the 2 year contracr or does the phone prices more expensive since im not buying the phone with a new 2 year contract?

thanks

Call them and ask. You should be able to get a cheap replacement phone. They may even give it to you free if you ask nicely.

One day I was pissed and my phone met an untimley demise when it met with a brick wall. I went into Verizon to get a new phone and they wanted to extend my plan, so I decided to buy the phone outright. I still have it, but I'm going to switch to Cingular, I can't stand Verizon customer service.

I have an inside connection with Verizon and I still got screwed.

Watch very carefully, they WILL want to extend your plan to get you a phone at a decent price!!!!!

I can't even get service in one of the areas I go a lot and even with a written guarantee and knowing a high up muckity muck they still wouldn't honor it (cancel my service) or fix the issue. Stay far, far away from Verizon.

You bought a contract, and a discounted phone originally. Even if you lose the phone, you still have the contract to pay for. Your options are either cancel the contract and pay the termination fees, buy a new contract to get a discounted phone, or buy a phone outright. You should look at what it will cost you to do each of these and take the least expensive option.

If your termination costs aren't more than what you'll pay for a new phone, you may want to cancel and get new service with another provider. If you like your provider, just sign a new contract and get a discounted phone - an extended contract isn't a bad ting if you like the service, and you can always change it without a new contract (can't you? You can with Cingular and some others). If you don't like your provider and termination costs are prohibitive, just buy a phone and wait it out - if the phone is unlocked, you can try and sell it when you don't need it anymore. Any way you go, you're going to pay something.

Fwiw, this is one reason I only buy GSM phones - if I lose a phone, I have others I can use when my provider sends me a new SIM card.

Ok, this just happened to me about 3-4 months ago with Verizon. You call them up and tell them you lost your phone and they will suspend your acct for max 30 days meaning even if you were to find your phone, you can't call with it unless you called Verizon and told them. I don't think they will charge you for those 30 days but after those 30 days, they'll re-open your acct and charge you your monthly fee regardless of any calls made or not. If the verizon rep is cool, they might try to hook you up with the same phone as you had before. The guy I talked to tried to get me the same phone I had but when he wasn't able to hook me up, he just credited me $20 and I just bought a phone elsewhere. You just need to make sure the cell phone is compatible with Verizon. Ask the rep about these directions.
I don't think you can extend your contract and get a free phone. I think those only work on when you renew your contract.
By the way, make sure you call Verizon immediately about your phone. The day I lost my phone, someone downloaded about $40 worth of games on it but by that time, I had already notified Verizon so they didn't charge me.

What if I found a verizon cell phone? I found a LG 8300 Verizon cell phone at a gas station. Is there any value? Is there a market for Verizon cell phones? I have T mobile so I can't use it.

Send it back to Verizon so the poor sap that lost his phone isn't F'd with having to pay ridiculous fees.

My phone crapped out on me halfway through my contract. When I asked to get a new, upgraded phone they told me I would have to pay retail AND extend my contract They did send me a new phone of the same model free of charge, but Verizon can be very difficult with these things.
