no. i believe the reason for going back to the past is to kill sylar before he goes nuclear on NYC. everyone in the future thought sylar was the one responsible for the explosion when the actual person who caused the explosion was peter. in fact, everyone thought that sylar died in the explosion.

You know how Peter's been able to kinda "dream" things and we all pretty much thought it was because of Isaacs paintings......
