no. i believe the reason for going back to the past is to kill sylar before he goes nuclear on NYC. everyone in the future thought sylar was the one responsible for the explosion when the actual person who caused the explosion was peter. in fact, everyone thought that sylar died in the explosion.

Peter was very much alive in the future, as was Sylar (using the form of Nathan to gain access to anyone with useful powers). That leads me to believe that neither of them was the detonator, leaving only Ted.
So, the show made some attempts to question whether the plot to kill millions in NYC is, in fact, evil or merely the lesser of two evils. But the writers give too many hints of the basic brutality of that "side's" behavior. I also don't see how Linderman could KNOW the future is better if it happens, though he WAS a patron of Issac's from the start. If he has adequate foreknowledge then maybe his side is the one to cheer for, though all our favorite heroes are against him. Can't tell if Peter is on-board or not. Not shooting Linderman makes us think he's definitely with Linderman. So why does mommy need to sooth him now?
Oh, and WTF is Micah necessary for? What electronic gizmo needs convincing in this plot? Nikki seriously needs to put that illusion-chick in her scope sight!

I heard Micah is/was used to change the outcome of automatic voting machines, to make Nathan the president. Don't know if that's true though.

Didn't Peter tell Nicki that he was the one who blew up and not Sylar? Plus he can heal using Claire's ability.
BTW, anybody here a fan of the X-Men? If so, u probably remember the "Days of Future Past" storyline from the 80's. One of (if not) the best X-Men tales ever. Anyways, this show is so blatantly ripping off that storyline -- as well as a bunch of other X-Men themes -- that it's not even funny anymore. The least Jeph Loeb could do is give some credit to his creative forefathers (Stan Lee, John Byrne, etc.).
