HEROES
I still enjoy the show but I could understand if ratings started to slip. I know it's science fiction, but there still have to be some rules. I don't care for Lindeman being back unexplained, I think Nikki's return as whatever, is a weak explanation, and now I fully expect to see Adam back - somehow.
It seems like the writers are lazy, going for the fast kill to advance a plor for the end of the episode/season, and then just 'reset' and start over whenever they feel like it.

Sylar seems to get his powers by taking a piece of the person's brain. Claire's regenerative powers allowed that piece to grow back so she retained her powers.
he has to look into the brain to "figure out how it works" and then he applies that knowledge to create that power in his own brain. Claires power allowed her to survive the process.

If he took his memory why would Peter know that he had the force lightning power?

Peter gets his powers once he has seen someone else use them.
Mr. Petrelli (father) sucks people's powers from them completely. That is why when he sucked Adam Monroe's powers he turned into dust, since Adam would essentially be over 200 years old.

Adam had healing power, Mr. Petrelli just killed him, him turning to dust I don't think had anything to do with him being old. It was probably the only way he could actually kill him was to turn him to nothing.

He would just continue to age from that point on if he took his power, not just turn to dust.
