Umm, what is an HOA? I even asked my parents and they don't know. Judging by the responses, I'm guessing its like a Neighborhood Organization or something/

"Home Owners Association" or something like that. Basically some neighborhoods get restrictions written into the deeds for property in them that include provisions for and association that establishes and enforces various rules, and supports some community amenities (like a neighborhood swimming pool, for example.) HOA's are know to sometimes be the stomping grounds of nosy, power-hungry PITAs that use their position within the HOA to make everybody's life as miserable as possible. Some examples of rules are: were you can and cannot mount a satellite dish, the length of your grass, the color of your house, where you park your car, etc...

Nope, wasn't joking. I had heard of Home Owner's Assoc.s, but I wasn't familiar with the acronym. I don't think there are many HOAs down here >.>

The way the dollar's depreciating, this is probably a bad idea.
Not if it's in Zimbabwean dollars. (However, shipping could get expensive.)

The HO Association is what i call them. Our neighbors have a KIA that's been sitting in the same spot for 8 months now. My audi is parked there in front for 3 days when i went to Spugen and came back to a violation notice.

I hate those bastards. Bunch of power hungry pricks if you ask me.

Well we moved into our house on thanksgiving day... and two days later we had a notice that we need to take care of the weeds in the front yard!! Needless to say I called them and gave them a piece of my mind since 1 the house sat empty with the bank for 2 years! and 2 I just moved in!!!

fast forward a year!!! they send me a note about mulch in my driveway behind my private gate that is between the front circle drive and the garages. Telling me I need to move the pile of dirt!! I called them and said well its not dirt, and its not moving anytime soon, I am doing the landscaping myself and its going to take me about 3 weeks to move it all. The lady said thank you so much for calling ok no problem we only drive through your neighborhood every 20 days!!! I asked as to why that was...I find out that the HOA is outsourced!! I was like well that makes since because the trash neighbors only mow like once a month!!

My dad was building his house and he got a notice that his garage A/C unit was visible from the street and he needed to put a fence up to hide it. Keep in mind, the house is still under construction and months from completion with nobody living in it.

My parent's always have issues with the HOA. Considering there are about 50 homes in the development and everyone pays $1,000 thats $50,000 in dues. However, no one ever sees this money get put to use. Where does it go? They have some mowing and gardening to do. These also have to power the street lights. Other than that, the city/home owners do the rest.
