Default Hoodless -- Is there a law?

Curious to know the answer to this question... Is there any law that I should be aware of that would require me to drive my car on a public road with the hood on?

I'm thinking, I see "hot rods" (32 Fords, etc.) with no hood, engine exposed at car shows...even driving down the road. I know I drove my car "hoodless" to pick up a purchased carbon fiber hood from another owner a couple years back. No problems with the law...but then again, no lawmen were on the road with me then.

Reason I'm asking now, is because there might be events that I'd like to attend and just not have the hood on the car for the event. Drive to the event "hoodless." And I wonder...am I just setting myself up for a ticket? If so, under what pretense?

[Older pic below...but you get the idea...]

I live in VA too, everything is illegal! Your question is similar to asking "how come American Thunder (Blunder) motorbikes are allowed to have a decibel level WAY higher than anything else on the street?" Its simple... since theyre domestic, they "allow" it... when they see an import, they target it... its like vehicle-racism.

But whatever, I could be totally wrong

How dare you insult the greatness of Harley Davidson and other american bikes whose sound is collectively referred to as American Thunder!!?? You mean to tell me you dont absolutely love it when youre waiting at a light with your windows open and a Harley pulls up beside you and revs it up?? Are you not in ecstasy as you go deaf and pop your ear drum(s)??

Whatev man, you just gotta accept that you live in America and the cops are biased. Especially in Fairfax county where the cops are EVEN stricter on car related violations.
