Horrible experience with UPS! Long.....
I just had 2 horrible experiences with UPS. If anyone has a similar experience, please post. I need some advice, but here is my story.
I sold some candy vending machines for my fiance's aunt. She used to run a small vending business, but she has since abandoned it. I was kind enough to help her sell some of them on Ebay. I sold and shipped about 3-4 of these machines earlier through UPS and everything went smooth. The last 2 machines that I sent out were damaged, I believe, by UPS. They were each going to a different place. I packed them nice and tight with cushioning materials. They were packed each in a brand new box. When the my customers got the machines, they both told me that it looked like it fell of an airplane. The boxes were ripped and taped back together. One machine was cracked all the way through, total loss, and the other had a broken base. So after they told me about this, I didn't panic, knowing that I got insurance with the machines. I made the claims and UPS picked up the packages from each person and inpected at their warehouse. Well, they told me it was insufficient packaging. I'm like what?? I packed the living hell out of the box, with styrofoam and air bags, and even newpaper were stuffed in it. It was taped all the way around. I mean I could be the best box packer in the world, but if you throw something that is fragile around and stack heavier boxes on top, it will break. That's physics! I was so pissed that they denied my claim. I even have insurance. I guess the insurance doesn't guarantee you your money back, then what the hell is it for?? That is such BS!! I finally got these boxes back and they do look like it fell of an airplane. The condition of the boxes were horrific. They did a half ass job taping it bad together. I disputed their results, but they seem to not want to pay me for their mistake. Now I'm $400 in the hole and I have to send new machines out these people. It's almost like "my word vs. theirs", but the only problem is that they have the money that I need. What should I do?

sorry man, but not much you can do there. i had the same sh!t happen to me, that's why i cancelled my UPS account after god knows how many tens of thousands of dollars we paid them. i had one of those front spoilers sent to Seung, and they friggin' FOLDED THE BOX IN HALF!! the spoiler snapped in half, and when i tried to claim insurance, the mofos said "insufficienct" packaging. now there are NO PACKAGING in the world that can prevent you from snapping the god damned spoiler in half when you fold the fornicating box!!
UPS blows, that's why i use FedEx only now.

you would think after all the money the workers get paid, they would know how to ship packages... but alas... they want to strike again, because, i guess.. the union management feel that getting paid $25 bucks an hour to stand and carry packages is not enough.....
go with fedex.....

You guys are lucky...... UPS actually lost my companies package. It was a big, plastic shipping container... You can't miss it. It was for our exhibit booth for a convention. We had shipped the booth back to the company that had originally built it for us to some new additions and get it ready for our up coming convention. As it turns out, UPS lost a freaking container with a bunch of panels..... so we had to miss the convention due to that. We were pretty POed. I just don't see how they can lose something so big....
Luckily they are willing to give us a claim payment... but we'll see how that goes....

I really think that these UPS people don't care about people's packages. They have to treat each package as if it was their real customer. You just don't throw sh!t around and break things, and worst off, put the blame on someone else when it is clearly their fault. I will put some pictures of my "raped" boxes later.

My Ex worked for UPS...He always had interesting stories to tell me when we would go out, about how they throw packages and stuff..even stealing from jewelers! He would tell me that when a specific jewelers box would come in they would be in the pit sorting boxes and would just sift it there way. Then the next day they would pone it at another jewelry store!
