Default Horrible Stench After Hard Launches - Help!!!

I have a '02 WRX and just broke it in (1,000 miles).

Anyway, my ideal launches are between 4-5K RPM, and after hard launches through the first few gears, I smell this unbearable stench from my car.

It smells just like a burned clutch, but my clutch isn't burned because the car is brand new and also because that smell only occurs after hard launches.

Could it be the oil (even though it's still new?)

Anyone know what it may be? Should I worry?

I'm gonna post this in the off-topic section too.

Thanks again.

Sounds exactly like a burning clutch.... doesn't need to be old, if you are slipping the clutch at high revs it will burn.... ask any S2000 owner, they will tell you what slipping the clutch smells like

Oh ya, its all clutch, Do you know how hard it is to get 4 let alone 2 wheels hooked up properly?

Think of it this way, if you pop the clutch and the tires don't spin, it takes it all out on your clutch down thru the driveline.

Not necessarly something you have to worry about too much, though you may get tired of relplacing clutchs, and perhaps axels and such.

Sorry, man, but I've got to say this. You're treating your car like you don't like it.

Like Mindcore said, not if you don't mind replacing clutches, axles, etc.

It's the clutch. Doesn't matter how new your car is, if the clutch can't handle 'hard launches', it will slip and burn.
