[QUOTE=AZDelt,Sep 23 2006, 08:33 PM] Isn't it a law in CA that you must have a front licence plate?

SF regularly has a night time metermaid crew driving around just to cite cars with no front liscense plate parked on the streets.

I was ticketed because I had a license cover on my rear license plate. Its not even tinted. It was the clear one. I know it said on the back of the product that it may be unlawful to have them in your state, but.....WTF!!!!

1.) Who the hell enforced the license plate cover. You have to been pissed bored to pull someone over for that.

2.) If its so illegal in those states, don't sell them in every freakin Kmart, Target, Walmart, Auto parts stores, and pretty much every-freakin-place in those states.

I know that states and city can make money off of it. But at least put me down for lookin too pimp in my car, rather than a license plate cover. I would off felt a little better.

the reason they are illegal is becasue some or many of the liscense plate covers reflect light and so prevents red light cameras, etc. from capturing your liscense plate. a lot of people purposely put one on for that purpose.

nothing wrong with that. the citation is very easy to avoid: just leave your front liscense plate on at all times as the law requires. the same can be said for any and all parking citations. just read the signs, follow the rules, and don't take chances--period. sure, parking violations and front liscense plate violations may seem like sleazy ways to generate revenue, but i'd much rather prefer that method than for the city to raise taxes for everyone. this way, the only ones that pay are the ones that are negligent or refuses to abide by the rules, which each individual has complete control over.

i mean, if it's used to identify a vehicle, what's the use of having a front plate? when the police are tailing you all they see is the back and the majority of the time, when a car leaves a scene of an accident or something it's almost always the rear one they see.
If a car hits someone or something in the front it leave the possibiltes that the front plate may fall off and thus leave some evidence of the hit and run. Not always but at least there is a chance. Also If someone steals your tag to use they would have to take two plates off instead of one, not that its hard but it is more effort then one.

Wherein did I say it was "sleazy?" I'm just clarifying it for those that think that ticketing (including most traffic stops) is for the sake of upholding the law.
