Bwuahah... sounds similar to an experience I had a while back. I got a mitsu. lancer as a rental car and scraped the crap out of one of the wheel covers/hubcaps while parking it kind of recklessly. 
It was very noticeable since pretty much half of it had the paint scraped off. Right before I turned it in, I went for a little offroading and covered the wheels and hubcaps in mud. It completely covered up the scratches and I was never charged.

Wow, I wish I had a gallon of bird crap a few years ago. I drove a POS rental Sebring into a concrete pole in a parking garage and had to pay a small fortune to a body shop to do a same-day repair. 20 minutes and 15 pounds of poop could have saved me some serious cash.
