I usually just drink a full glass of water. If I don't have any water around, then I just hold my breath and pinch my nose.

What I do is try drinking from the other side of the cup. Apparently the concentration needed to do this is what stops you from hiccupping, and it works for me.

Eating seems to work for me. Eat some bread and gulp water.

Two solutions.
1. If you notice someone with the hiccups. Offer a quarter if they can produce one more. Usually this works.

2. My solution is to hold my breath to the point where I almost pass out. You know the stars start moving. This works 99% of the time. The other 1% I pass out and don't remember I had them.
