Since the question was asked, I figured I'd give a straight answer. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone else for drug use, drinking, carousing, etc, etc, so I figure no one is going to point the finger at me for what I say (said). If I live my life a certain way, I don't think it's unreasonable for other people to know about it when the question is raised.

Great thread.

If I, honestly, had to put my 'happiness' on a scale, I don't think I would know how. I'm in college, working in the engineering field, good money, not at all w/out the opposite sex, intelligent, open-minded, single, too many things I have that I don't deserve... yet... the term 'happiness' seems so 'subjective.' A spoiled mind has a hard time conceiving the true essence of contentment or happiness, and I feel many of us fall into this category. Emotional ups and downs are what we constantly experience, further than that, I doubt we are that great at deriving more profound conclusions.

Anyone ever read Ecclesiastes? I think that book hits the nail on the head, and I'm not one to preach Christianity, as although I believe in Christ and love him, my actions are trash in relation to what is considered to be Christian Ethics. I'm to blame, I know.

If it isn't written by John Grisham, Tom Clancy, or J.K. Rowling, chances are most haven't read it.

Hey, no problem. I was just explaining why I wouldn't shy away from that kind of comment, personally.

Happiness in my mind (and at the end of the day, that's all that matters to me) is a direct consequence of how I choose (or manage to choose) to view or interpret any particular situation, life event or thing.

Therefore, when i manage to see things positively, I'm a 10. When I don't manage so well, I'm lower on this scale. Its that simple. But what is more empowering is knowing that you have the ability and the power to control where you want to be on that scale. The trick, as in all things in life, is just doing it more often than not.

Knowing PLYRS personally, he is definitely a righteous, arrogant ass, but clearly that's just a manifestation of the part of his personality that allows him to be 'happy' - that is, seeing the world as he chooses to see it, his own personal successes affirming that view, and then structuring his actions and thoughts to continue his happiness.

Don't be offended (this is the internet) - just understand that its the way he lives his life and he just chooses to communicate it in an arrogant, irritating kind of way.
