I need to go out of town the week of my court date for my speeding ticket, how do I go about doing that? Can i do it over the phone or do I have to appear before a judge to do it?

 

Call and reschedule. You may need to go down to the courthouse. It is not hard. I don't think there is anything that would not allow you to do so.

 

a phone call won't do anything, you would have to go down to the court house yourself.

or you can get a lawyer to do it for you.

 

Depends. Last year I just called up here in Washington to change it. Depends on what it is for and what kind of court system you have.

 

Completely depends on the location. What you're really asking for is a continuance. Some places you call the prosecutor's office, some you call the clerk of court, some you call the judge's office.
