I was discussing the Katrina thing with a co-worker....she claimed that there were tons of Asians on welfare and assisted living, etc.....

In the 4 years that I have had Section 8 housing, I have not ever had an Asian person call me.

Anyone know, or know how to look it up.

 

I'm not sure if the government would even ask the race of an applicant. If they don't collect (and release) that information I don't know where else it would be available.

 

asking this board is kinda pointless. if you are able to afford a "toy" like the S2000, you don't need housing assistance.

alot of Asians however, are recent immigrants and were/are on assistance. when we first came to the US 20 years ago, we were on welfare, foodstamps, the whole works. Then I went to medical school and my brother went to dental school. we are not on welfare anymore

 

I thought someone would have some knowledge.... the lady i work with swears there are tons of asians on welfare, etc...... but like you said...work and schooling and no long need welfare, etc....

Well, I wouldn't look at Census Bureau data or anything, I'd just insist there must be no Asians on welfare, based on your extensive experience, if I were you :/

According to the data I found, maybe 1/4 the Asians in America have a total household income under $27.5K, whether they are on welfare or not is none of my business.
