How should I get to Vegas???
Hey,
I graduated from college last December and a couple of my fraternity brothers are graduating this May. We've decided to take a trip out to Vegas in the latter part of May to celebrate our achievements.
Here are the assumptions...
First of all, we wouldn't be taking the S...
Not enough room so instead we'll be taking my other vehicle, a 2002 Ford Explorer. Yes yes yes, I know its a FORD but its a very capable light SUV.
Secondly, I live in Dallas. This makes the road trip to Vegas about 22 hours according to MapQuest. We're all road trip buffs and have taken several trips together but then again, a 3-4 hour flight sounds pretty good too.
And lastly, with me money isn't that big of an issue but with the other two it will be somewhat of an issue, given that they wouldn't have had been working like I have been.
So... given these assumptions, would you fly or drive? Thanks!

uhm fly! that's going to be a two day drive so you have to spend a nite at a hotel+gas+food (unless you do a crazy all-nite drive), take the flight and use the extra time to enjoy vegas.
you can find cheap hotels if money is really an issue...
and i can't imagine it costing more then $200 to fly to vegas (gotta be less then that from DFW!)

Drive. You get to see everything between Dallas and Las Vegas up close (vs. ant size).
There's a weird area at Williams, AZ that is infested with little gnat/ flea things(at least in mid-april). They get everywhere. Put the vents on "recycled air" and speed right on through that town!!
There's a meteor crater in AZ...Flagstaff is nice...Las Vegas ROCKS. I worked as a caricature artist in the MGM, Excalibur, and New York New York casinos for a summer. The whole town is pretty cool. There are quite a few rice boys there, though.

fly
driving just to get out of texas blows
plane tickets will only cost you about $200 if you look hard enough.
As far as hotels go, since you have money, gamble BIG and earn free room and food so your friends won't have to pay.

Fly!
We did an S2000 road trip last year on Memorial Day weekend (which also happened to be graduation weekend). It took us 12 hours to drive back to the Bay Area from Vegas cuz we were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic a lot... Bay Area --> Vegas usually takes 7-8 hours. I'll never drive to Vegas on a big holiday again!
Tickets are only about $200, which isn't much compared to the money that's being used for gambling
