How soon is too soon for the "L" word?

I met my wife in January of 1979, we got engaged in April of 1979, and married in December of 1979. This December we'll celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.

When you know, you know.

Well, if there is such thing as "Love at first sight" I'd say that there is not time restriction to use the word..

The right time is when you know in your heart that you can't live without this person in your life. If it is 2 days, 2 months, or 2 years. When you feel it, and know it is TRULY love, then that is the right time.

I did it. She said, "What are you thinking".
Me: "I'm afraid you might freak out, it's not bad though. I'm thinking that I love you".
Her: "I won't freak out".
That's about it. Nothing else seems different.

I'm split on this one.... while i'm entirely for saying what you feel/mean there are times when it's too soon. It depends on her really, as it sounds like you know how you feel. It comes down to how you think she will react. Some people are really gunshy about that from past experience or whatever reasons.

My advice: everytime you get the knot in your stomach and want to say it, make a mental note of it. Tell her you adore her, that you like her, etc and see what she verbalizes in response. That should give you a good indicator and then proceed accordingly.

I guess just dont blow her out of the water. Fire a couple shots across the bow first.

Love at first sight does exist........so if it happens that's when it's right.

So you don't have ulterior motives. The hell you don't.
Go for it dog! I met my late wife in May 1978 and we were married 3 months later. We stayed married for almost 20 years. Are you sure you are ready for that? Repeat after me....... Long engagment. Long engagement. 2-3 years. Once you are ready, give a ring contingent upon marriage. Have witnesses present! May as well be smart about love. No?
