is he your friend?

this issue will never come with me since only friends that i consider friends...would have already pay for my damage without question.

you better watch who you call friends...because things like this can occur and he wont be so "friendly" like a real friend.

i would have him pay for it and have your "friend" get money from the shop.

mav,
if it were me, i would pay for it on the spot, then myself goto the shop and try to get the shop to pay for those damages providing reciepts. regardless if the shop pays for it or not, it is not your fault, you need to be taken care of, REGARDLESS

I'd like to offer the counterpoint of the fact that the damage on said car is not that bad. I wasn't pelted with bolts and I have worse imperfections on my car. Considering the situation that said member is in with his car, I think it's pretty stupid to even bring this up to him at this point.

I'd hesitate contacting your insurance company. After reading an article in Autoweek recently about insurance companies cancelling insurance or denying coverage on modified cars, I would exercise other options first.

Best bet might be to contact a lawyer. You and your friend should be compensated for your losses.

No need to over explain myself, well put ^. However, it might be worth a shot consulting an attorney, with a brief of your situation, pertaining to any possible time conserving alternatives, so the matter is solved immediately. If your attorney feels you and your friend can both be compensated go for it, in that manner suggested. Also it really would help to have your attorney give your mechanic a phone call concerning the matter, if he's incooperative. Reason is, it lets your mechanic know your not messing around. It's expensive to fix a tri stage coat of paint on the s2000, especially when the damage is in a couple of places. It's not your fault, press him in a civil manner, you'll be alright. Sorry this happened to you.

In ocations like this is when u know who ur friends really are.
i agree. But, is the damage enough to justify the cost of consulting an attorney? Not to sound like an ass or anthing, but isn't getting all legal going to cost a pretty penny, for the amount of legal consel you could just ues that towards fixing the car. Or if you have a friend who is an attorney then you could ask for advice, not counsel. anyway, now you know who to call a friend and not.
