First, Tommy, this never was a hypothetical situation. Maybe you should have titled the subject "I didn't get enough attention from the other thread I started on this subject, so here goes again"

I've been trying to stay out of the fray on this because I like you and Warren both, but you have been painting a very slanted and unfair picture of the situation. I'm not going to minimize the damage to your car, because its nobody else's place to tell you if its significant enough to get upset over or not. I will say that I think you are exaggerating when you claim the damage will run into the thounsands to fix. Unless Warren had a box of BBs in his passenger seat that went flying out the back during the accident, I think the damage can be repaired for a few hundred bucks. (Warren says the parts that broke off his car were a couple of bolts, and God only knows if they even hit you). I understand the S2k isnt your daily driver, but you cant possibly claim there wasnt a single nick in it. So, at most, you should take into account that any damage you found might not all have been from the accident.

Regardless, I take issue with the way you make it sound as though Warren's car fell apart, damaged yours, he got it fixed and lived happily ever after, whilst never giving a f*ck about you and your car. Have you, at any point, presented Warren with a quote for the damages? From what I heard, you didn't seem to think the damage was significant enough to worry about. Granted, maybe after you looked at it two weeks later, you felt differently, but did you ever talk to Warren about that? Of course, only the two of you know for sure what conversation(s) took place

Meanwhile, maybe he set aside worrying about your damage, because he has been mired in more than THREE WEEKS of fighting with the shop that YOU recommended to him. Ooops...did you forget to mention to the fine folks on S2ki that little fact? He has been without his S2000 for this entire time, and has been getting jerked around from DT. He spent over $10k for this whole nightmare and chose the shop based on YOUR recommendation.

Now, I'm in NO way holding you responsible for the fact that DT did a sh*tty job on his car and jerked him around for all this time. However, if I was the one who recommended them to him I'd feel pretty damn bad about HIS situation. At the very least, it would preclude me from starting an Internet war over my accidental paint damage as a result of the shody work that the shop did to my "friend".

The whole situation was unfortunate. As others have pointed out, Warren didn't damage your car out of neglect. Its not as if he backed into you or had something in the passenger seat that went flying out at your car. His car came apart at highway speeds and thankfully, NOBODY was injured. He had to have his car towed home from Vero Beach to Miami. Of course, you weren't obligated to remain with him. I guess your shift as his personal travel protector was over. He says you did make an offer to stay, so I guess you aren't a total jerk. Good thing, Ricky (Sonic) and Rashel not only stayed with him, but also Ricky used his AAA to give him a hand with the towing expenses on top of that. NOW, who is being the better friend? Sounds like Ricky, even though he knows Warren a fraction of the time you have. Stop acting like you went outta your way to follow Warren home out of your deep concern and love for your "friend". Why did you do that anyway? Was the car giving him trouble at the Supermeet? If so, maybe following directly behind wasn't a swell idea.

I really thought that you had a little more couth than to to start multiple threads to make noise about how badly your friend wronged you. Have you had a serious discussion with Warren about this or did you just start flaming away, because he wasn't hunting you down to talk about fixing your paint? Did it ocurr to you that since you never brought it back up to him, he MIGHT be a little consumed with THREE WEEKS worth of stress fighting with DT, consulting lawyers over his car? Knowing Warren, if you had talked to him about it, I'm sure you guys would have worked something out.

Its a sad thing to see not just two "friends" but two S2ki board mods ending up like this. I'm sure its going to make working together on future S2ki events wonderful and the atmosphere is going to be pleasnt for all

(For those who may be unclear about who the parties are, Tommy is Mav and Warren is DaWorm. Both of whom have been good SoFl MODS)

While there are SO many comments I could make here, I'll merely post a quote by mav grabbed from one of the recent "group trip" threads...

I suppose this was to protect your ass, Tommy, from someone coming after you for damages...but now that the shoe is on the other foot it shouldn't hold up? Does this somehow not apply to you since you were the one damaged and not someone else? Mighty convenient...
