I am getting quite the beer belly.
Situps wont do anything because you have to lose the fat before actually building that "washboard" stomach. No Carbs is a good start, and lots of protein is always essential for weight training.. Out of curiousity, how much do you drink?? I think you can cut down on the drinking, but not necessarily take it out of your life because a little beer every now and then is harmless... Do a lot of running (cardio) too, it's a good way to lose the gut..
Bryan,
Sorry, no advice here, but if it's any consolation, I have a bit of a beer belly as well...I'm pretty skinny at about 5'9" and 125 pounds, and at least several of those pounds have to be from my beer belly.
It's like the only fat spot I have. I also drink a decent mix of hard liquor and beer. I'll be watching this thread as well...

Here is the problem.. It totally depends on your build and your metabolism. If you don't do anything but sit at a desk all day (like myself), you will have a problem getting rid of it. What you want to do is burn the fat by increasing your metabolism. You can do this a number of ways.. You can run, you can walk for long periods or multiple short intervals or you can ride a bike. This will speed up your metabolism and then start burning the fat quicker than anything. You don't need to cut down on the beer. F-That. Just drink a boat load of water. Don't start working out right away either. Wait a week or so to let your body adjust to the higher metabolism. Here is the biggest key though.. DO NOT DO SITUPS!!.. Let me repeat this.. DO NOT DO SITUPS!!!!! This will increase the muscle size underneath the fat and push out the fat more, making you look quite larger than what you were before you started trying to make yourself look better. The main thing is to start running/working out and not stop. This will screw up your body big time. Keep the cycle going. If you really need help, go to the gym and consult one of their weight trainers. Sit down with them and have them show you how to not hurt yourself. I am just about to start adjust my look and getting back to what I used to look like. I am at the perfect weight right now but it is the wrong weight.. haha. All fat and no more muscle.. Lame

You were doin' ok until you said don't do sit-ups. Actually, don't do sit-ups, do crunches. Do you actually think that the whole belly these guys have is fat? No, it's not, what is happening is the fat is constantly pulling on the muscle and forces it outward, doing crunches will not make your abs bigger unless you do zillions, but what it will do is straighten them out so they don't protrude along with the fat.
Do crunches all you want.
