I am old and boring. I am too geeky.

I was kinda bothered and annoyed to find this out about myself yesterday from my wife. To my defense I don't think I am that old. Plus, I can point out a lot of geekier people which would make me not look geeky at all.

Last night after work I met my wife at Walmart. He old coworkers and some of their friends were with her. I thought we were gonna hang out and then after I paid for the house supplies she said she needed she says "I'm going out and I'll be back later". Wait a minute I thought to myself, I thought we were all going together. "Oh no, she replies, the guys think you are too old and serious. They don't know how to talk to you." So I say how can I be too old to play pool.

Anyhow to make a long story short I'm told that this pool hall might make me feel uncomfortable. Oh yeah, a pool hall that's just "too cool" for me. I used to hang out at pool halls everyday 3 or 4 years ago. It can't be much different than those.

So we all hung out and I thought it was fun. But maybe they were all bored because I am old and boring. The punishment I deserve for marrying a girl 10 years younger.

Go do something cool with the students at the local elementary school. On Tuesday I was Principal-For-A-Day, showed the kids some magic, and told them why they should learn their multiplication tables.

I'm awesome! It's official.

Being old is OK if you're awesome.

 

S2K Fan, being old and boring is a state of mind. Don't let their comments bother you; just go out and have fun. BTW, my wife is five years younger. At first her friends thought I was old and boring, too, but they like hanging out with me now that they have gotten to know me.

Hey, when I get to be old and wrinkly, I'm still gonna be a gamer, and a guy that loves to drive. Granted I don't have an S2000, but I still love driving. And I love my computer, consoles and physical sports (read: martial arts)

 

lol, I'm gonna have to agree with Mindcore. I would think that marrying a girl 10 years younger means you are entitled to be old an boring and still be thought of as "cool" in most people's eyes.

My dads 55. He plays tennis at a local tennis club w/ a bunch of high school students. He's let a few drive/go for a ride in the S, and now they think hes the coolest

 

I feel sorry for guys that are all of 30, (I looked at your profile) that feel like they don't fit in, with a crowd of 19 and 20 year olds. I don't try to fit in as one of the crowd or try to look like them. I just be myself to hell with what they think of me, I have enough self confidence not to worry about it. BTW I am 52, I don't care who I hang out with as long as they can carry on an intellegent conversation.
