I found a turtle!
I found a Turtle a looong time ago and Kept it, and my parents went out and bought some turtle food for it. And I kept it in a Fish take that wasn't being used... Then I took it out by a lake and lost it, lol don't ask me how I could lose a frickin turtle but i was only like 5 or 6.
well, first off, make sure it is not carrying the above mentioned diseases.... aka.. S-A-L-M-O-N-E-L-L-A
after that, go to the petstore.. you have to not only buy food.. but a basking light, cause whatever light you have in the house, will not duplicate the natural UV that the sun provides. You also might want to give it a tank.. and fill it with some water. Remember to treat the water for clorine and other stuff.. like PH... the water if good for us, bad for animals....
after that... just take care of it.. accoring to chinese proverbs... it is bad to keep a turtle.. cause if you kill it... it is lifetime of bad luck for you.. since tutles live almost forever.. or.. longer than you...

I'd hold off on putting it in a tank with water until we find out what kind of turtle it is. If it's an aquatic turtle, then you'll definitely want water, but if it's a terrestrial turtle, putting it in a tank with water will eventually kill it. Terrestrial turtles only need a small bowl or dish of water to drink from.
Btw, the Kingsnake forums (http://www.kingsnake.com/) are a good place to get information about reptiles.
From the main page, click the "Forums" link, then scroll down about halfway and you'll see a section called "Turtle Forums". There's even a specific forum called "Turtles - What Kind?"

I'm Buddhist so what I've always done is release Turtles and I believe rabbits. Something about turtles being spiritual though. That's why my mom free'd my damn miniature turtle when I was 7. Now if things go bad (very superstitious) my mom will buy a turtle and we would write our names or something like that with a prayer and set it free. Helped out a lot when I got charged with a whole lot of stuff when I was younger.
