I am fortunate to have all three, the ps2, the xbox and gamecube, and i can tell you that the gamecube sucks!.. maybe it is just madden that i have for it, but that game sucks.
The xbox is good as in it has a built in memory/harddrive. the graphics is really good. better than ps2. the good thing about ps2 will be the product line that it currently has. Many games just work better with ps2. Between the two, and i had to pick one, i would probably pick ps2. but if the xbox has as many games as ps2, well, that will be a tough one.

I have XBOX, PS2, and Gamecube as well. I think XBOX is better. I am not worried about the availability of games though due to the fact that this time last year the same exact things were being said about PS2. Hard to code for limited games and now BAM, games everywhere. If I had to choose I would pick XBOX, forget the fact that it's microsoft and it's huge (smaller than my DVD or CD player still). The game loading speed is much faster and the graphics I believe are slightly ahead of PS2. If you are really against Microsoft think of it this way they are losing a ton on each unit sold. Go buy it today (last day 12/26) at Virgin Megastore with your AMEX Blue and you get 30% off. That's what I did.
Oh yeah you do need a seperate remote to unlock the DVD capabilities (unlike PS2) if you need that feature.
Gamecube sucks, I'm giving it to my little cousin. Nintendo is for the 8 - 15 year old crowd. I really don't need it.

.BTW, I own a PS2 since quite a while and still play GT3 sometimes...it's such a great game.
I play it blown up to 120" using a LCD projector and it still looks fine to me.
I've seen the XBOX and the graphics look even better. Microsoft quality -
I wonder if the XBOX displays a blue screen in case it crashes
