Most people probably don't know who he is, so your like big deal. For me it was. He is one of the best Guitarists out there. I was at Steve's music downtown Toronto. I was picking up another new guitar when in the back I hear some guy playing. I think to myself, shit! that guys good so I peak around the corner and there he is. Just checkingout the local action. I had my guitar in hand and introduced myself. Acting like a stupid school girl I asked him If I could play Cliffs of Dover for him. ( I had spent years mastering this one particular song by him ) After I finished ( with no screwups!! ) he said It was awsome, How the hell did I learn it. Turns out every note was right but played much harder then it needs to be. He spent a good 1/2 hour going over it with me showing where I should make changes. It was an incredible experience. I had not brought my new Digi cam but the guy in the shop took a picture to hang on the wall and will send me a copy. Pretty awsome day for me.
Sorry it was so long but I'm pretty excited. Called all my friends

Holy SHEET!!! Mike, he's one my freaking guitar HEROES!

Wow, that would be an amazing experience. In just about any pic that you see me with a hat on, it's an Eric Johnson hat! I have turned countless friends on to his music...and being from Texas, he's got a special place in my life. Wow, what a thrill that must have been...

Congrats! Scan that picture when you get it...I would love to see it...!

Hey Greg, If I knew you were such a fan I would have gotten you an autograph. Speaking of Texas he was saying he's got a show thier on Friday. He said it was gonna be nuts!!! also said that Joe Satriani ( my hero )would probably show but I couldn't convince him to fly me downthere an back. When the picture comes I will definatly post it.

Eric's great! Cliffs of Dover - I swear it should be the national anthem!

I've never met him before, but a friend of mine in highschool/college worked for his girlfriend - its a vegetarian restaurant off of Duval in Austin - said he came up there all the time. He's a vegetarian and drives a 67 Mustang - or so he did about 7 years ago.

He's quite meticulous about his work, which is why (I forget his name, argh!) his albums take so long to record. Everything's gotta be "perfedt" and hearing you play, and him commenting on it like that, take it as one of the greatest compliments!

If you didn't know, his current band is Alien Love Child, which plays about every other month at a local venue here in Austin.

Crazy thing is I have never see him live, He never plays in Toronto. He was just here to do a little work in the studio. We do have good ones here. I guess face to face was as good as it gets
