I needed to be a piece of History!
I went down to Florida this past weekend for a friend's wedding. I had reserved a Shelby GT-H a few mos ago and was pretty psyched to get it. I've read all of those car magazine stories about their experiences with acquiring one, and they werent kidding! My flight got delayed, I was supposed to arrive at 12:30am on Friday morning, we ended up getting in about 2:30am. As exhausted as I was, we made it to the Hertz counter only to find that the authorizing manager for the Shelby is already gone and I had to come back that morning to see them. They sent me on my way in a Mustang Convertible and 1 free day for my troubles. I came back around 9:3am to switch cars. The Manager asked me a series of questions, then took me to the car, showed me everything in the car that separates it from a regular Mustang, and made sure to specify that what he is showing me must be in the car when I return it. Things like the hood scoop and Pins, side scoops, GTH door sills, numbered plaque in the car, shelby grille, gas cap, strut brace and of course, the security cable on the engine that prevents anyone from removing the engine. It was quite the thrill ride, even though it's nothing more than a fancied Mustang GT, but it attracted plenty of attention from onlookers. Returning the car was the same ordeal, going over a checklist with the manager before signing off that everythings good. Overall, VERY happy to be a piece of history!

They intentionally disabled the traction control switch, so it's undefeatable....With that said, you think they would have wanted these cars to be in stick? It woulda been sweet, but the Auto worked fine with the car though.
It wasn't a bike lock, it was a thin cable. You can see it in the engine compartment pic, it's a thin silver cable right next to the oil cap on the passengers side, just under the strut tower brace by the shock tower.

$/day? might hv to borrow one during Xmas...
I put it on my AMEX card and used some rewards points to redeem for a certificate to pay for some of the rental. Using that gave me a corporate discount code from AMEX, and the price went down to $87.99 per day with 75 miles/day with $0.37 each additional.
