I want a DOG!
Dogs are a lot like S2000's. They cost a fortune and are worth every cent.
But don't get a dog unless you are prepared for the sacrifices. You can't go on long holidays unless you've got someone to mind them or can afford a decent kennelling. You can't stay out too late. You have to get up early to feed them Don't worry, they'll remind you.
This is a 6-15 year commitment at the end of which you'll be heart broken.
But, it's all worth it! I am a different person as a result of owning my dogs.
And both Lucy and Honey were rescued from the RSPCA.

I didn't crate train mine. I hallway trained her. Now she goes in there when it's time to leave or go to bed. I'm going to start the training soon. My last dog was a cocker. She was trained to ring a bell to go outside, then ring another to come inside. She was probably the most intelligent dog I ever owned. Lousy kids dog though. She had a horrible temper and bit.
I have a 1 year old Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix named Jake. Jake is a wonderful dog, looking exactly like a black lab. He weighs more than 80 lbs now and was snipped at about 6 months.
As my S2000 is my only car he has to ride in it when I take him to the vet, dogpark, or over my parents house. What I do is put a towel on the seat then put one of those walmart carseat cushions over it (to get an extra layer of protection). So far so good.
To secure him in the seat I first put a harness on him. He is then belted to the roll bar via a short lead (2ft) thats just looped on there. It works really well. He sits there like a perfect gentlemen looking out at the front window (except when he sticks his nose on the A/C vents). Its funny though, he knows when we are going to take a turn and leans in the proper direction to bolster himself.
I however would not suggest trying to let your dog (secured or not) ride with the top down or even the window open in your S2000. With the top down Jake will stand himself up on the side of the car and ride with his head above the windsheild. If the top is up and the windows are down even a dog as big as Jake can get through the window. Not to mention any damage to the car.
While I don't like to have Jake ride in my car per se due to safety concerns, its all I have until I can afford to buy another car (to supplement the S2k of course) next year. It is definately managable though.

Mine love riding in the car, but they hate the S2000. They're good in it, even with the top down, but especially my male, at 75 lbs, is too big; his front feet fall off the seat cushion and the seat is too small to lay down. He resorts to sitting sideways in the seat, facing either me or the window, and can move very little other than that or risks falling off the seat.
I rescued my female (left) from Boxer Rescue, the male I got before I knew about rescue...
