Ideas for what to do with spare car speaker? Build somethin?'
(Also posted to http://www.off-topic.net and http://www.i-club.com )
Here's the story. In '98 I had a Honda Civic that was rear-ended and totalled. I had a Pioneer Premier head unit and four DEI HE-1062 coaxial speakers. I went to get everything out of the car before buying my new one, and almost got it all.
When I got to the last speaker, the driver's side door, I couldn't get the screws out. The shop must've put the suckers in with some gigantic damned mechanical drill, I swear. Anyway, in my efforts the screwdriver slipped and I killed the cone. So I left it there. When the time came to install in the new car, I put two of the DEIs in the rear, and bought a set of Kenwood components for the front, on sale.
Lots of things have happened since then--new car, new systems--but I still have that one stinkin' DEI speaker. Haven't used it. Sitting on my futon.
What the hell can I do with it? I thought of maybe replacing one of the speakers on my boom box with the sucker or something (it's a *really* old JVC CD player/tape deck/AM-FM with the two speakers you can separate from the unit to spread out).
I dunno. Any suggestions? Fun things to do with the DEI?
